TelVue Corp. Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary
Media Company Has Been Changing Cable Industry for Two Decades
TelVue Corporation (TEVE:
OB
) today celebrated its 20th anniversary of innovation in the cable industry. For two decades, the company has utilized its core expertise automation, 24-hour service and support, and knowledge of the industry to give viewers a better cable television experience.
TelVue is best known for its TelVue Virtual Television Network (TVTN), a network of municipally-owned public, education and government (PEG) channels, which was founded in 2003. Typically identified as static billboards with out-of-date information, TVTN helps PEG channels look and feel more like other television networks. TVTN’s patent-pending Web Updating System© (WEBUS) enables municipalities’ authorized users to add, edit and update information on PEG channels anywhere Internet access is available. TVTN also improves the viewing experience for residents by providing production support and local content like weather, traffic and emergency updates.
Most affiliates receive TVTN’s service free-of-charge thanks to the generous support of corporate sponsors that gain valuable access to communities at a local level. Others pay an annual service fee.
“TelVue has continuously grown over the past 20 years because of its cable television expertise, reliability and dedication to customer service,” said H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest, Chairman of the Board of TelVue Corporation. “Utilizing these strengths, the company is re-energizing local media with TVTN and has big plans for the future."

More than 160 municipalities and 2.5 million households, including those in major cities
Philadelphia
,
Boston
and
Baltimore
, have access to TVTN-enhanced PEG channels.
TelVue was founded as a subsidiary of Science Dynamics Corporation in 1986, and was “spun-off” as an independent public company in 1988. Two of TelVue’s three founders, Randy Gilson and Joseph Murphy are still involved with the company today. Mr. Murphy currently serves as the company’s president, and Mr. Gilson as vice-president.
Utilizing patented technology developed at Science Dynamics, TelVue initially provided automated Pay-Per-View processing services for cable operators. Within a few short years, TelVue had gained 95 percent market share in the industry. The introduction of two-way remote ordering in the early 2000s, dramatically limited the Pay-Per-View market, and TelVue expanded into a new cable niche with the development of TVTN.
“Our 20th year has been our best thus far cities and towns across the country are turning to TVTN and corporate sponsors are lining up to support them,” said Mr. Murphy. “We are committed to bringing quality local television back to cable and building on this success for the next 20 years.”
